Cherry Hill is right in the middle of Central Park, it has a gentle sloping lawn which overlooks Central Park Lake and Bow Bridge. It has lots of tree covering, and is a large open space, so it is well suited for quite large wedding groups.
Because of the slope of the hill, a couple can stand on higher ground with the officiant for a wedding ceremony here and the whole group can see the proceedings.
This area doesn’t really have any clear boundaries. A wedding Cherry Hill would not offer any privacy. A wedding here would be a gathering on a hill, very much out in the open. A wedding here would enjoy a beautiful view over the rowboats on Central Park Lake and Bow Bridge. So, it has benefits, but it may not suit a shy couple.
The trees and flowers make Cherry Hill a lovely spot, with a decorative fountain at the top of the hill. It is close Bethesda Terrace, so it would not require too much walking to get to all the major sights, and just a few steps to take photos on Bow Bridge. Because Cherry Hill has a lawn with trees, so has no cover, it would not be a good ceremony location in wet weather, and if it has been raining beforehand, the ground will be soft.
The maximum guests allowed for an event permit issued for a wedding on Cherry Hill is 60 people. The pictures on this page show a little of weddings taking place at Cherry Hill and of portrait photos of newlyweds here.
